Recently, Northeast Asia Research Center of JISU received the approval of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange (Office for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs) affiliated to the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China to be a University Registration Center of Cross-Nation and Region Studies. It was entitled to participate in all areas of research under the framework of university study projects on cross-nation and regions.

The Northeast Asia Research Center is committed to conduct cross-national and regional studies on Northeast Asia. As the key goal and significant strategic priority of disciplinary construction during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), the center embodies JISU’s features and advantages of scientific research with geopolitical dominance and acts as an impetus for serving national strategic needs.

Based on the requirements of rejuvenating Northeast China and other old industrial bases in an all-round way of the State Council and the New Liberal Arts Strategy of the Ministry of Education, the Northeast Asia Research Center will depend on teaching institutions including the School of Oriental Languages, the School of Central and Eastern European Language, the School of International Economics and Trade, International School of Media, the School of Business and Management, along with other scientific research organizations such as the Collaborative Innovation Center for the Silk Road Language Services, the International Institute of Chinese Studies, the International Development Academy of Jilin Province, etc. Through exchange and cooperation with universities at home and overseas as well as inside and outside Jilin Province, the Northeast Asia Research Center strives to build a center of cross-national and regional studies with the largest number of distinct languages, maximum practical achievements, and a combination of traditional fields and non-traditional fields. It will conduct studies on national conditions, politics, economy, culture, education, society, and other fields from countries like Russia, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, and Mongolia. It will also gather and construct a cross-language big data and public opinion database and integrate the research with disciplinary construction and new liberal arts building. The center works hard to realize integration of production, learning, research and teaching, integrated scientific research, teaching research and senior minister and all-in-one characteristics of disciplinary specialty and scientific research direction. It also aims to be an important research center of Northeast Asian Area Studies with distinctive features, remarkable outcomes, and some domestic influence. It also has a significant think tank on theoretical research, consultation of senior minister, research and assessment of information, and development strategy.
