JISU Launched a Psychological Assistance Hotline for Epidemic Prevention
Feb 1, 2020 10:02 AM   News Center

During this time, the most important task for our school has been to fully prepare for prevention and control of the novel coronavirus infection. In accordance with the overall deployment, the Mental Health Education Guidance Center of JISU has set up a telephone hotline and QQ hotline that started January 31st and runs throughout the day to offer assistance to those teachers and students who are suffering from mental difficulties caused by the coronavirus. Professional psychological consultants provide one-on-one mental consultation to those who have emotional distress caused by the epidemic of the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the Mental Health Education Guidance Rooms from 13 schools, such as the English School and the School of International Exchange, have launched 24-hour telephone psychological consultation services. For both Chinese and foreign students, especially Hubei students and their parents, we carry out active psychological crisis intervention, so as to ensure that students are safe at home and make good preparation in prevention and control of the disease.

According to JISU’s Mental Health Education Guidance Center, all the teachers participating in the psychological consultation are full-time psychology teachers. They have a steady political mindset and a strong sense of responsibility. They have received relevant training before the opening of the hotlines. Meanwhile, in order to ensure information security, the contact information of the consultant is deleted within 3 days.

The school psychologists indicate that it is a natural response for people to feel stressed or feel more or less security threat during an epidemic. We should pay more attention to our psychological status, communicate with our family members and friends and take the initiative to adjust ourselves. If you come across some difficult psychological problems, you can apply for a psychological consultation and seek medical resources to help yourself. Our school’s public WeChat account will continuously share psychological self-help articles to help students and teachers. Together, we will resolutely win the battle against the epidemic.
