The 16th National Undergraduate Admission Publicity & Information Session of Jilin Province was held at Jilin International Studies University (JISU) on June 16, 2019. Officials in charge of enrollment at 117 universities and colleges nation-wide came to offer information about their respective universities and colleges, introducing things such as their educational strengths, major advantages and admission policies. They also provided Gaokao-takers and their parents with face-to-face consulting service to help them choose the right colleges to attend.

Several authorities visited the session, including Yue Qiang, the deputy director-general of the Education Department of Jilin Province, Zheng Jingguo, director of the Examinations Authority of Jilin Province, Yang Shuanggui, head of the Jilin Education TV Station (JLETV), and Qin He, president of JISU.

This session was sponsored by JLETV and organized by JISU. As an event for the public and free of charge, it attracted more than 30,000 participants.

Thirteen overseas study service agencies also attended the session to offer information regarding overseas study, which was very helpful for individuals looking to apply to foreign universities and colleges.

In order to make sure everything ran smoothly, JISU set up a special working group, made thorough preparations, and clearly assigned jobs to cover publicity, organization, specific affairs, transportation, security, and logistic services. The effective preparations led to a smooth, valuable, and enjoyable event.

In addition, JISU took advantage of this opportunity to publicize and showcase its outstanding faculty, strong programs and many achievements. The university had a team of deans and chiefs from different departments to answer questions from students and their parents regarding things such as specialty setup, the cultivation of talents, employment, international exchanges, campus culture and student services.

Many undergraduates also volunteered their time and services to the students and parents. JISU selected approximately 100 volunteers to serve at the session. A volunteer patrol team was also sent out to make sure the area was secure.

This successful event received praise from high-level supervisors, sponsors, participating universities and colleges, and a host of students and their parents.

According to Miao Jing, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the CPC and director of the Students Affairs Department at JISU, JISU is estimated to admit 2728 students from 26 provinces in China, including 941 in Jilin Province this upcoming school year, and it will generously reduce tuition for the impoverished orphans enrolled. It should be noted that the university will offer new Polish and Czech bachelor programs (4-year), which meets the requirements of the “One Belt One Road” Initiative and helps Jilin’s economic development. Up till now, JISU has established 15 foreign languages majors: English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Arabian, Indonesian, Mongolian, Persian, Polish and Czech. Impressively, it currently offers the most foreign language majors out of any university or college in the Northeast of China.
